Shaandiin Tome is a young lady of many pursuits. In addition to being an honors graduate of the University of New Mexico, the Navajo-born Tome is also a filmmaker who possesses Sundance Film Festival experience — including a Sundance Full Circle Fellowship.

The Red Valley, Ariz., native debuted her short film “Mud,” last month at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The showing drew a packed house, which included film aficionados from around the world.

Sheriff’s deputies of various ranks honored at ceremony

McKinley County Sheriff’s Office awarded “Letters of Commendation” to law enforcement deputies of all ranks that went above and beyond the call of duty. The ceremony took place Jan. 31 at MCSO headquarters in Gallup. Below are the actual letters that each deputy received for their good work.

It seems like it has been only a short time since a superhero film opened in cinemas... wait, it has only been a few months since the last title. Regardless, audiences should prepare to be inundated once again with the arrival of the first of three Marvel Comics adaptations coming this year. Thankfully, Black Panther is a solid addition to the franchise cannon and one that should provide viewers with plenty of action and thrills.
