SAINT MICHAELS, Ariz. – Pumpkins were delivered to the children and residents of the Saint Michaels Association for Special Education and the children of the Hogan Hozhoni children’s home in Saint Michaels Oct. 7.

The pumpkins were part of a donation to area organizations that provide care services to those with special needs and those who are separated from their parents.

SMASE currently works with 53 children and adults from the age of 6 with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. The association cares for Navajo people from all parts of the Navajo Nation with special needs.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – Carl Roessel Slater took the Oath of Office for the Navajo Nation Council as the Council Delegate for the Tsaile/Wheatfields, Lukachukai, Round Rock, Tséch’izhí and Rock Point Chapters at the Navajo Nation Council Chamber Oct. 10.

Delegate Slater was elected at a special election carried out by the Navajo Election Administration Sept. 24 upon the retirement of Delegate Nelson S. BeGaye.

TUBA CITY, Ariz. -Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer issued a proclamation on Oct. 9, proclaiming the month of October as Navajo Nation Breast Cancer Awareness Month. SANTA FE - The New Mexico Environment Department posted excess emissions data reported to the Department on its website Oct. 15. The data follows:

“Transparency of self-reported emissions data, in conjunction with our regulatory efforts to curb excess methane emissions in the oil and gas industry, is essential to understanding air quality impacts in communities around the state,” according to NMED Cabinet Secretary James Kenney. “Compliance with permits and air quality regulations is not optional. It is expected by the communities in which these facilities operate and by NMED.”
