It has been a decent month at the movies, with several solid titles being released over the past week. Atomic Blonde isn’t the best of the bunch and suffers from a lack of emotional investment in the character, but it does provide a few excellent moments of popcorn thrills and a charismatic lead, which help elevate it over a fairly humdrum plotline.

Talented LOCALS show off their ‘mad skills’ for prizes!

The Rio West Mall recently held its 3rd Annual Mad Skills Talent Show July 14.

This free event was open for all ages, to show off a talent or two. The event was held center court from 5 pm - 8 pm, and 11 contestants gathered ready to battle in hopes of winning first, second, and third place, and winners were awarded $100, $75 and $50 respectively.

A plethora of talented contestants were on hand showcasing talent, such as guitar playing, singing, comedy sketches, and Hip-Hop dancing.

According to the USDA Economics Research Service website, almost 13 percent of the US population is food insecure, meaning they either don’t have steady access to food, especially nutritious food, or worse don’t have steady access to food at all. This problem is especially acute in households with children as well as households in poor and/or rural areas.
