WINDOW ROCK, Ariz.— On June 13, Navajo Nation Vice President Jonathan Nez was in attendance at the Northern Agency Council meeting at Sanostee, N.M.

The meeting was scheduled during the same time President Begaye was at the funeral services for Navajo Code Talker Bahe Ketchum at Navajo Mountain. Vice President Nez provided an update on the Executive Branch issues he and President Russell Begaye have addressed since taking the oath of office on May 12.

ALBUQUERQUE — Governor Susana Martinez signed into law a bipartisan jobs package designed to recruit new businesses to New Mexico June 15, make it easier for small businesses to get off the ground and grow, expand trade and commerce along our southern border, and increase employment in the technology sector of New Mexico’s economy.

Martinez campaign vet to run Jeb Bush’s campaign

A campaign strategist that worked on both successful Susana Martinez gubernatorial campaigns will head a Republican presidential campaign.The Wall Street Journal first reported on the shakeup that has Danny Diaz as the campaign manager for Jeb Bush.

The change took place even before the former Florida governor officially launches his presidential campaign. Bush is expected to join the crowded field seeking the Republican nomination soon.

This isn’t the first or only connection between Bush and Martinez. In 2014, Bush headlined a fundraiser for Martinez’s reelection campaign.

A bill to stop the bulk collection of data as allowed through the post-9/11 Patriot Act passed the Senate on Tuesday and was quickly signed by President Barack Obama.Both members of the Senate from New Mexico voted in the majority on the 67-32 vote on the bill dubbed the USA Freedom Act.

The bill had overwhelmingly passed the House weeks ago, but the Senate failed to get 60 votes to pass the bill and instead tried to pass a full reauthorization of the Patriot Act. That effort by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., failed because of bipartisan opposition, highlighted by a filibuster by his fellow Kentuckian, Sen. Rand Paul.

Attorney General Complaints Allege Medicaid Fraud at Carlsbad-area Mental Health Center

CARLSBAD, NM - Attorney General Hector Balderas’ office today charged four top personnel at Carlsbad Mental Health Center with Medicaid fraud and also brought charges against the center as a corporation. Criminal complaints against the four individuals— Michael Stoll, Noel Clark, Darrill Woodfield and John Bain—and the corporation were filed June 2, 2015, in Eddy County Magistrate Court. The corporation and each of the individuals was charged with eight counts of Medicaid fraud under the Medicaid Fraud Act, one count of conspiracy and one count of fraud involving non-Medicaid funds.
