The term slice-of-life couldn’t be a more accurate description of the events depicted in the new movie, Nomadland. For the better part of nearly two hours, the cast and filmmakers attempt to capture the life of a woman living a nomadic lifestyle. The film displays the reasons for making such a choice, as well as the highs and numerous lows, uncertainties, frustrations, and dangers that it can entail. Over the past year, Disney has been premiering a great deal of its content on its new streaming service. While there have been some awards contenders like Soul, the live-action output from Disney+ hasn’t always been as stellar. In fact, some of their 2020 titles (including Artemis Fowl, Black Beauty and Magic Camp to name but a few) felt like they had been relegated to the platform only to get lost among the studio’s catalog.
