McKinley County Sheriff Deputy Lorenzo Guerrero was dispatched to the area near Deadhorse Saloon on State Highway 566 in connection with a possible drunk driver.

Antonio, 24, of Thoreau, N.M. had been stopped by a different deputy for failure to maintain his lane. He was seated behind the steering wheel and showed signs of being intoxicated. When he was told to exit the vehicle, Guerrero said, Antonio had to lean against his car to brace himself. Guerrero said he also noticed several open containers of alcohol in his vehicle.

State Police bring in helicopter to find shooter


Reports of teenagers firing guns as target practice north of Gallup Feb. 11 attracted the attention of both Gallup police and McKinley County deputies as well as the State Police.

The first calls came in about 10 am from employees of the Magic Car Wash.

When Gallup police officers arrived on the scene, they said they heard shots being fired from the ridge line north of the car wash. One of the shots reportedly hit the car wash.

Since the shots were coming from county land, the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office was notified and Gallup police began warning people to stay away from the area because of fears that more stray bullets...

NAVAJO, N.M. – The Navajo Police Department apprehended a federal warrant homicide suspect late Wednesday night after an extensive foot search in Navajo.  The search resulted in the arrest of four, including Jeremiah Cleveland, who is the subject of an outstanding federal warrant issued in December 2018 for homicide.

The Navajo Police Department received a call Wednesday afternoon regarding a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located, however the suspects eluded the officers’ attempts to stop it.
Officers gave chase into Roanhorse Canyon, approximately 5 miles south of Navajo. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in multiple directions.

Police are seeking the public's help in locating the suspect

UPDATE: Richard Johns Jr., 46, has been identified as the man who allegedly robbed Washington Federal Bank Tuesday afternoon. Johns whereabouts are unknown at this time, possible locations are motels on the west side. Please do not approach, call police.

Shortly after 12:30 pm today, Gallup Police responded to a hold up alarm at Washington Federal Bank , 221 W. Aztec Ave. The robber made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
