NMSP participate in C.A.R.E. operation over the Christmas holiday

During the Christmas holiday, the New Mexico State Police participated in the Combined Accident Reduction Effort C.A.R.E. operation across all roadways within the state.  The goal of the traffic initiative is to increase motorist safety and reduce the number of crashes through a strong law enforcement presence.

Because of the increased volume of traffic during the holiday, NMSP increased its patrol presence during this initiative on roadways throughout all State Police districts on the busiest travel days of the Christmas holiday, specifically Dec. 22 through Dec. 26.

A car accident on Interstate 40 left one person dead and several injured Dec. 23.

Around 7 am, New Mexico State Police responded to a one vehicle rollover crash near milepost 68 near Thoreau.

According to a NMSP press release, a 25-year-old woman named Ruth Cisneros was traveling westbound in her black Volvo when, for reasons still under investigation, she allegedly swerved onto the left shoulder and back onto the road before the car flipped and rolled several times. Cisneros was ejected from the car; the Office of Medical Investigator pronounced her dead at the scene.

The McKinley County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a woman named Emily Boubard, 30.

She is five feet and 10 inches tall, and weighs about 300 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair.

Emiy sas last seen on Dec. 22 through social media.  Her direction of travel is unknown, however she may be in the Gallup area.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Emily Boubard is asked to call MCSO at (505) 722-6473 or dial 911.


NMSP investigate GPD officer-involved shooting

The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau is stepping in to investigate after a Gallup Police Officer reportedly shot a man Dec. 10.

According to a NMSP press release, a 21-year-old man from Gallup named Jeremiah Gomez was asked to leave a residence and refused to do so. In an interview with the Sun, Jeremiah’s father David Gibson said his son was trying to get back into the house where he lived.

David said that Jeremiah had spent the day with his mother and drank a couple beers. When he went back home to his girlfriend and their two-month-old baby, his girlfriend reportedly wouldn’t let him into the house and she called the police.
