Unwelcome visitor chased away from local hotel

A man on the fourth floor of SpringHill Suites, 1105 W. Lincoln Ave., was made to feel unwelcome after he flashed a machete and made a threat. The incident was called in and Gallup Police Officer Christopher Dawes arrived to find the man running across the intersection of U.S. Highway 491 and West Maloney Avenue.

NOT JUST MOTEL TOWELS
Gallup, Aug. 4

Security at the Howard Johnson at 2915 W. Hwy. 66 saw a female guest drive a vehicle up to the door of her room and park while two males moved a portable air conditioner from the motel into the car.

When asked what they were doing, the driver took off westbound on Highway 66. There was no further contact with the vehicle.

Twenty-one-year-old Sharon Whitehorn of Albuquerque was the registered guest.

The incident was reported to Gallup Police Officer Iris Martinez

A summons for larceny was filed for Whitehorn in the Gallup Municipal Court. The air conditioner had an estimated value of $475.

A car swerving across the road near Zecca Plaza was called in to Metro Dispatch. Gallup Police Officer Luke Martin was called to investigate. He drove to 3810 E. Hwy. 66.

He found a silver Ford Focus with a suspended registration tag being driven by a woman. He watched it turn onto Miyamura Overpass and followed it to Hasler Valley Road where he conducted a traffic stop.

Martin met the driver, Amanda Arviso, 31, of Church Rock, N.M. He said she had bloodshot eyes, slurred her speech, and smelled of alcohol. She appeared confused as he spoke to her and only provided her driver’s license. There was an open container of Truly brand...

Multiple vehicle collision stops traffic on I-40

Cibola County, N.M. - New Mexico State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving multiple vehicles that occurred Oct. 8 on Interstate 40 near milepost 111, east of Laguna, N.M.



The initial investigation indicated a 2019 Freightliner Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), driven by Jose Rubalcaba, 28, of Harlingen, Texas, was traveling east on Interstate 40. The Freightliner approached a construction zone in the eastbound lane where traffic had slowed down. The Freightliner struck the rear end of a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup and pushed it forward into the rear end of another 2019 Freightliner CMV.

Unidentified body found outside local store

A phone call came into Gallup Police Department Oct. 8 stating there was a male who was unresponsive outside Home Depot, 530 Kachina St.

Officers arrived at the scene near 4 pm and discovered the male, who was later determined deceased.

The identity of the male is Roger Teller, 62 of Chinle, Arizona. Gallup Police stated there is no suspected foul play.
