Body found near Family Dollar

A body was found near the Family Dollar store on the south side of Gallup.

On July 27, around 3:00 pm, Gallup Police found the body in a field near the store. No further information is available at this time.

STOLEN TRUCK

Gallup, July 10

A woman has been charged with stealing a Gallup Police detective’s truck.

On July 10, around 5:52 am, a fellow detective called Metro Dispatch to report that his gray Ford truck had been stolen from his house. When he called, the detective was following the stolen vehicle into Gallup.

Around 5:56 am, the detective said the truck was approaching the construction area near Chino Loop in Gamerco. Gallup Police Officer Warren Bowannie saw the truck when it drove past the Mesa View Plaza.

Aggravated DWI w/ Child in vehicle

A car crash resulted in the driver, Brittany Charley, 24, of Gallup, being arrested with a considerable list of charges.

A witness called Metro Dispatch stating there was a vehicle crash under the I-40 bridge near the intersection of Third Street and Maloney Avenue. Gallup Officer Warren Bowannie arrived at the scene and found the vehicle, a white Chevrolet Malibu with a temporary license plate and what the report identified as blood of unknown origin on the rear quarter panel.

A woman was arrested after she ran over another woman’s legs while she was trying to leave the Sports Page Lounge.

On July 10, around 12:42 am, Gallup Police Officer Elijah Bowman was dispatched to the Sports Page Lounge, 1400 S. Second St., in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a car.

When he arrived at the scene, Bowman met with the female victim first. She was laying down on the ground in front of the business, and she said her legs were hurting. Medical personnel were called in to check her over.

FBI sees increase in school hoax threats in NM

The FBI has seen a significant increase in hoax threats to New Mexico schools this year and wants to remind parents and students these types of threats can have serious consequences for the public and the perpetrators.

During the first six months of 2021, two school threats were reported to the Albuquerque FBI Division.

So far this year, approximately 19 have been reported, most of them hoaxes.

The FBI and its law enforcement partners have made at least three arrests in connection with these threats.
