Candidates for UNM-G CEO visit Gallup Campus

Five candidates for the chief executive officer role are visiting the UNM-Gallup branch starting this week, the UNM search committee has announced.

The open forums are opportunities faculty, staff, and students to interact with the candidates.

“During our search for a CEO we had a 12 percent variation on our survey forms,” UNM-G search committee chair Ralph Richards said. “That is very good. It means we are singing from the same music sheet. In the past we have had variations as high as 45 percent.”

UNM-Gallup campus interviews third CEO candidate of five

The University of New Mexico continues its search for a Chief Executive Officer to head the Gallup campus.

On Oct. 17, candidate Richard Fleming, Ed.D., who serves as the vice president/dean at College of Southern Maryland in Prince Frederick near the Chesapeake Bay, asked search committee members to consider his near 30 year academic experience.

Born in Memphis, TN, Dr. Fleming holds an MBA and an MS in Industrial Administration, and a BS in Zoology.  He is a 2009 recipient of the Phi Theta Internationals Administrator Award of Distinction.

3rd Annual Veterans Summit & Stand Down

CHURCH ROCK - The Military Support Group Planning Committee and the City of Gallup hosted the 3rd Annual Veterans Summit and 5th Annual Gallup Veterans Stand Down at Red Rock Park Oct. 5- 6.

The two-day gathering brought together veterans, families, and veterans programs to assist and support veterans’ issues.

This year was different from the previous Veterans Summit. The City of Gallup and additional veterans’ entities collaborated with the Military Support Group Planning Committee to combine both functions.
