CHURCHROCK, N.M. – On Dec. 1, Council Delegate Edmund Yazzie (Churchrock, Iyanbito, Mariano Lake, Pinedale, Smith Lake, Thoreau) participated in the grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration for the Churchrock Senior Center, located approximately nine miles east of Gallup.

The newly constructed 5,500-square foot center features an administrative office, two activity areas, a dining room, two bathrooms with showers, a fully equipped kitchen with two pantries, craft storage, and a fireplace. The new center was constructed using the New Mexico capital outlay projects funding.

Santa to make early trip for kids in need

McKinley County Toys for Tots welcomes all McKinley County children to the Larry Brian Mitchell Center, Located at 700 Montoya Boulevard in Gallup.

Dec. 17, from 10 am – 3 pm ONLY.

Toys for Tots – McKinley County Chapter will distribute toys to boys and girls ages one to 10 years old.

Parents and or Guardians: for your child to be eligible please bring and provide a proof of residence with a physical address in McKinley County (ex: utility bill, insurance, letter from your school stating residence, etc.). Thank you in advance for your participation.

Shoppers less in quantity, spending more, official says

While most people from around greater McKinley County were still in the kitchen preparing Thanksgiving dinner at 2 pm on Nov.23, or perhaps getting up from the table after stuffing themselves silly with turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie, a brave few were lining up outside stores at Gallup’s Rio West Mall hoping to snag deals in Black Friday sales.
