Act supports health care/food security in tribal communities

$150,000 for irrigation improvement

U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich announced July 8, that the Navajo Agricultural Products Industry, located in Farmington, was awarded $150,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART Program for its Irrigation Scheduling Improvement Project.

The funds for NAPI will help improve irrigation scheduling and efficiency by monitoring system equipment and installing a moisture probe. The more efficient system will reduce over-watering, which is expected to result in annual water savings of 2,672 acre-feet. WASHINGTON, D.C.  – On June 26, U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) secured $30 million in reimbursement funds for localities and non-governmental organizations in New Mexico and elsewhere that are providing much-needed humanitarian relief to asylum seekers.
