Gallupians now have a direct flight option to Las Vegas, NV, thanks to support from the State of New Mexico.

The City of Gallup has received the Rural Airport Service Enhancement grant for two years and it has primarily supported the direct flights to and from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Thanks to the support of the New Mexico Department of Transportation's Aviation Division, the city is now also using RASE grant funds for flights to and from Las Vegas, NV.

The number of Phoenix flights have also been doubled. The carrier for both flights is Advanced Air.

"These flights are important for community to enhance transportation options for fun, business, medical appointments, or to see family," City Manager Frank Chiapetti Jr. said. "The community can also benefit through our marketing efforts to attract more tourists and visitors from Phoenix and Las Vegas."

For more information about the flights, or to book a flight with Advanced Air, visit https://www.visitgallup.com/directory/gallup-municipal-airport/. Click "Book Your Flight" to be directed to Advanced Air's ticket booking system. There are now two Phoenix flights per day, Monday through Sunday. Flights to and from Las Vegas take place on Fridays and Mondays.

A one-way ticket to Phoenix costs up to $110 with flight time of about one hour. The Las Vegas flight costs up to $140 for a one-way ticket, with an hour and a half flight time.

A new terminal for the airport is currently in the design phase, and the City is working with its partners to create a Free Trade Zone at the airport. Once in place, the FTZ will allow for inspections of international imports to take place in Gallup instead of other entry points into the U.S. This would improve Gallup's positioning as a hub for business logistics and increase desirability for industries to call Gallup home.
