WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov.Tim Walz for President and Vice President of the U.S. on Nov. 4.
“Under Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, every Native American person will matter equally,” Nygren said. “Together as one nation, President Kamala Harris and Vice-President Walz will be thinking for the future of the Navajo Nation.”
Nygren cited Vice President Harris’ work with President Joe Biden to promote tribal communities through ARPA, infrastructure support, water development, health care and public safety.
He said Walz has supported his state’s 11 tribes, has visited each reservation, established government-to-government relations and codified tribal consultation into law. He said the governor prioritized public safety, established the first state-level office for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives, had his state invest to preserve Native languages and strengthen cultural preservation.
Nygren said Navajo Nation First Lady Jasmine Blackwater-Nygren, who is a former Arizona State Representative and an attorney, joins him in his endorsement.
