The New Mexico Department of Transportation District Six along with Albuquerque Asphalt, Inc. will begin mill and inlay work on New Mexico State Road 609 at the eastern portion of the corridor in Gallup on April 29.
Work will begin on the centerline of roadway from mile marker 1.35-2.35 (from First Street to U.S. Highway 491.). The contractor will then work on the westbound lanes, turn around and work on the eastbound lanes. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
The contractor’s work hours are 6 am to 8 pm Monday through Friday. Drivers should expect minor delays and plan travel accordingly. All work is expected to be complete by mid- to late-September.
