FRIDAY, APRIL 29

KRAY VAN KIRK HOUSE CONCERT

7 pm @ the Gallup Masonic Center (106 Aztec Ave.). Kray Van Kirk, a talented guitarist with an enticing baritone voice, will present the first of three community house concerts this year, sponsored by the Masons of Gallup.House concerts are like attending a private, personal concert, attendance is limited to a small group of 20 - 25 fellow music lovers, which allows the musician to interact with his audience.   As the group is small, reservations are required to ensure a seat.  The cost is $25 per person, which includes the musicians fee and also a donation to support  community programs and medical research programs funded by the Masons.

REZ-SOLUTION’S SPRING FORWARD WALK, WAG N RUN

April 29 is the last day to register for the Rez-Solution’s Spring Forward Walk, Run n’ Wag. This is the shelter’s first virtual run. The virtual run, hike, or walk can be done anywhere May 9 through May 22. Registration costs $35. All proceeds go towards the shelter.

SATURDAY, APRIL 30

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS GOLF “FORE” KIDS SAKE

All day at Fox Run Golf Course (1109 Susan Ave.). Big Brothers Big Sisters is hosting their 12th annual Golf “FORE” Kids Sake tournament. Prize and raffle winners will be announced at the golf course on Sunday, May 1 at 5 pm. Winners will also be announced on Facebook live and will receive a phone call. All proceeds stay in our local community to support Big Brothers Big Sisters and ignite and empower the potential of youth.

GALLUP 9TH ST. FLEA MARKET

9 am to 5 pm @ 340 Ninth Street. The Gallup Ninth Street Flea Market is one of the largest Native American markets in the United States. With more than 500 vendors and as many as 10,000 visitors each week, you can find food, crafts, jewelry, livestock, and household goods.

MONDAY, MAY 2

SUMMER INDIGENIOUS ARTS: DANCE PROGRAM

7 pm to 8 pm @ the Gallup Cultural Center (201 E. Hwy. 66). Experience authentic traditional dances from a variety of area tribes, featuring traditional drum, rattle, and flute instruments along with explanations regarding the cultural traditions that surround these dances outside the Gallup Cultural Center. The program will kick off on May 2 and happen on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout the summer.

MIDWEEK MATINEE AT OFPL

EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

9 am to 12 pm. The Emergency Rental Assistance Program makes funding available to assist households that are unable to pay rent or utilities. Join New Mexico Legal Aid at Octavia Fellin Public Library every Thursday from 9 am-Noon for assistance completing the ERAP application.  They will be onsite for walk-ins ready to provide help in keeping safe, stable, and affordable housing. FRIENDS OF HUBBELL NATIVE AMERICAN ARTS AUCTION

12 am to 4 pm @ Gallup Community Service Center (410 Bataan Veterans St.). Shop more than 300 vintage and contemporary Navajo weavings, plus pottery, katsina dolls, jewelry, baskets, and silver work.Admission is free to the public and there is no buyer registration fee. Auction item preview is from 9:00-11:30 and the auction is  from 12:00 am to 4:00 pm.

21ST ANNUAL CELEBRACION DE CINCO DE MAYO

12 pm to 4 pm @ Downtown Gallup. While May 7th isn’t the actual Cinco de Mayo, you don’t want to miss out on this celebration of the Mexican holiday and the Anniversary of the Battle of Pueblo.  Visit the heart of downtown Gallup for free entertainment, mariachi, Hispanic dancers, and more!

NATIVE AND XERIC PLANT SALE

9 am to 3 pm @ Holiday Nursery (224 S. Valley View). Xeric (water-tolerant) plants, as well as plants and seeds to help support Monarch butterflies and other pollinators will be available.  A one-hour talk on Xeriscaping by Martin Link will take place from 10-11 am. The talk is free and open to the public. A portion of plant sales will benefit Plateau Sciences Society non-profit projects.

ARTS CRAWL

7 pm to 9 pm @ Downtown Gallup. Come experience local and professional art,  artist demonstrations, gallery openings, live music, hands-on crafts, and games for the kids.

“THE TRANSITION”

7- 9 pm @ ART123 Gallery (123. W. Coal Ave.). «The Transition» is a narrative art installation by Zuni artist Dennis Dewa that sharply contrasts the current state of the environment with the brighter future that is possible through immediate, radical change through a landscape mural.

OCEANS OF POSSIBILITIES SUMMER X-STREAM

There’s something for everyone at the library all summer long! This year OFPL focuses on Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math to inspire curiosity and creativity for kids and adults alike. It’s all about questions and answers! Discover an ocean of possibilities by taking a virtual tour of an aquarium, participating in STREAM and craft activities, join a live puppet show, enjoy movies, a pirate party, and more!  ALL ages are invited to participate in the challenges and win some great prizes. RMCHCS UPDATED VISITOR POLICIES

Due to the recent downward trend of COVID-19 cases, RMCHCS has reinstated its visitor policy. The visitor policy supports two people per family member who have passed the coronavirus screening. Visitors must be 17 years old or older. Visitors must show documentation of COVID-19 vaccination. For more information visit

 

RMCHCS COVID-19  TEST/VACCINE/BOOSTER CLINIC

8 am-10 am Mon.-Fri. @ College Clinic (2111 College Dr.). 16 years and older. For test, someone will come to your vehicle. Please call (505) 236-1074 and someone will come out to your vehicle to obtain a specimen.

 

For vaccine and booster adult must be six months out from their second vaccine. Call College Clinic at (505) 863-1820 to set up an appointment.

 

RMCHCS CHILDREN’S COVID-19 TESTS/VACCINATIONS

8:30 am-11 am and 1 pm-4 pm Mon.-Fri.@ College Clinic (2111 College Dr.).  For COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11. A patient/guardian will be required to remain with the patient and wait 15 minutes for observation immediately after vaccine is given.
