Navajo man accused of decapitation

ALBUQUERQUE — A Navajo man accused of attacking a man with an axe in McKinley County, made an initial appearance in federal court Oct. 15.

Shilo Aaron Oldrock, 28, of Fargo, N.D. is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation.

According to a criminal complaint Oct. 10, he allegedly murdered John Doe on the Navajo Nation when he attacked Doe with an axe and cut off his head. Oldrock allegedly burned Doe’s head in a wood stove and fled the scene.

If he is convicted of the offense, he faces up to life in prison.

The Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case with assistance from the Navajo Nation Police Department, the McKinley County Sheriff’s Office, and the Gallup Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney David P. Cowen is prosecuting the case.
