ALL-NEW MEXICO CAST, CREW BEGIN SHOOTING POLITICAL THRILLER SERIES THIS MONTH

SANTA FE – Twenty principal actors, 40 background talent and 40 New Mexico crew members will begin filming a political thriller in New Mexico this month.

Capitol Barbie is a Mean Girls-style political thriller mini-series about aspiring Latinos in Wash., D.C. Dolly is an intern who moves across the country to pursue her dreams of working on Capitol Hill. She ruffles the feathers of a politician vying to become the first Latina president, who then tries to kick her off the hill. Dolly begins to realize that this hill... isn’t going to be easy to climb.

Director/Producer Riley Del Rey (Thought I Lost You, a Sci-Fi Western pilot), stated, “As we begin an election year, we’ve created a show that will engage the political philosophies of our nationwide audiences to inspire debate. Capitol Barbie is also a showcase of 100% New Mexico cast and crew.”

Capitol Barbie features native New Mexican Elese Jones. Jones has been a stand-in on many union shows, including Deputy. She will lead the cast as Dolly on this production in her first starring role.

Jeanette Aguilar Harris, a life-long New Mexican who trained off-Broadway and was a series regular on CBS’ Under Suspicion, will play Melissa Lopez-Gaffney, an egoistic politician gunning to become the first Latina president.

The New Mexico Film Office announced March 5 that Capitol Barbie will shoot at Amy Biehl High School and the University of New Mexico’s West Wing.
