Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham will call the New Mexico Legislature into special session possibly as early as March 31, to finish the work of legalizing adult-use cannabis.




“Legalized adult-use cannabis is one of the best moves we can make in our work to build a bona fide 21st century economy in New Mexico,” Lujan Grisham said. “And New Mexicans are more than ready: Poll after poll has demonstrated that our state wants this opportunity.




“But rushing through amendments in the final hours of a session, when there’s a mountain of other very important work to be done, is not the right way to do something of this magnitude," she said.

Navajo Nation reports no new deaths, cases

The Navajo Nation reported no COVID-19 cases and “no recent deaths” on March 22.




The news was posted to Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer’s Facebook page. They cited the figures from the Navajo Department of Health.




“Thanks to the dedication and commitment of the Navajo people, health care workers, frontline warriors, and many others, the Navajo Nation has no new cases of COVID-19 reported,” Nez said in a statement. “Once again, the Navajo Nation is exemplifying what can be accomplished when we listen to the public health experts and work together. Our hard work is paying off and our prayers are being answered.”

Waterline tie-in could affect water service

The water line tie-in SmithCo Construction project scheduled for March 25 could cause a water outage to homes serviced in the area of Mariyana Street and Wyatt Street.

The Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project Reach 27.10which will start March 25 at 8 am is expected to affect homes and businesses on Wyatt Street, Ignacio Street, Lance Street, Sunde Street and the homes on Dee Ann Street between Ignacio and Lance Streets.

It is believed that about 12 homes will be affected. There is not expected to be any impact to the access to the homes.

Three vehicle colllision

McKinley County Sheriff's Office is handling a three-vehicle collision on I-40 eastbound at the 9.8 mile marker, west of Gallup.

Traffic is being diverted off I-40 at Exit 8, using the frontage road to go around the crash and return to the interstate at Exit 16.

Drive with caution and watch for traffic in the area. Expect delays until the roadway is cleared.
