Man dies in train vs. pedestrian accident

A man has died after being struck by a train in the area of Third Street and U.S. Hwy. 66 March 14.




Metro Dispatch received the call around 1:45 pm.




When Gallup Police officers arrived at the scene they met with multiple witnesses who said that the man had tried to climb over one of the train’s couplings, which is what holds the train’s cars together, while the train was stopped.




But when the train began to move again, the man was caught underneath the locomotive.






He was pronounced dead at the scene.




In an interview with the Sun Gallup Police Chief Erin Toadlena-Pablo said that the man had no identification on him at the time of the incident. An autopsy...

UPDATE: Dominick Tsosie has been located and is safe.

The Gallup Police is asking for the public's help in finding a man named Dominick Tsosie, 24.

Tsosie is six feet and one inch tall, and weighs about 195 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a brown Ariat t-shirt, a black Ariat jacket, and black boots. His last known location is the Speedway at 701 U.S. Hwy. 491.

Anyone with information on Tsosie's whereabouts is asked to call Metro Dispatch at (505) 722-2002 or 911.

Crownpoint woman sentenced to 30 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter

A woman from Crownpoint is now facing 30 months in prison after she allegedly drove drunk in 2020 and killed a man.

According to court documents, Ryntana Yazzie, a member of the Navajo Nation, had been drinking alcohol and was driving south on Highway 371 outside Farmington on Aug. 4, 2020 when her vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and struck a semi-truck driven by a man who was driving northbound. Yazzie, 34, crossed the center line into the victim's truck and did not brake prior to the crash.The man attempted to veer to the right to avoid Yazzie.

FBI searching for the "Tan Pants Bandit"

The FBI and Rio Rancho Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the Tan Pants Bandit, who robbed the First Financial Credit Union of Rio Rancho, 2201 Rio Rancho Boulevard SE, at approximately 5:15 p.m. on March 4.

The suspect is a white man who is approximately 5'7". According to an FBI press release he is more on the stocky side, and he was wearing a black hat, black hoodie, black face mask, and tan pants.

Newcomb man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter

A Newcomb man has plead guilty in federal court to involuntary manslaughter in connection with a 2021 incident in which a man was stabbed to death.

According to court documents, Leighton Spencer, 31, was drinking at his residence with another man when the victim began fighting with his girlfriend. Then Spencer, a member of the Navajo Nation, and the victim got into an argument that soon became physical. At some point after that, the victim pulled out a knife and stabbed Spencer in the forearm multiple times.

Spencer then took the knife from him and stabbed the victim. A stab wound to the neck damaged a vein and artery which caused the victim to bleed to death.
