UNM-Gallup hosting Business of Art Bootcamp in April

Two-day event of workshops, panels will provide artists professional tools, skills

The University of New Mexico-Gallup will host a free two-day Business of Art Bootcamp to empower local artists and students by providing essential tools to kickstart their art business.

UNM-Gallup will host the 2024 Business of Art Bootcamp from 9 am to 3 pm on April 19 and 20  at Calvin Hall Center Auditorium on the UNM-Gallup campus. The Bootcamp is free, but registration is required.

Registration can be completed online in advance or in-person on either day of the bootcamp. Lunch and basic promotional items will be provided for all registered participants. The first 50 participants to register will...

WNMU hosts premiere, watch party for 'The College Tour'

SILVER CITY, N.M. — Western New Mexico University hosted the premiere of a special, WNMU-focused episode of the Amazon Prime TV series The College Tour on March 21. The episode was filmed entirely in southwestern New Mexico and showcases WNMU students, the campus, the town of Silver City, and the Gila National Forest. WNMU is the first university in New Mexico to be featured on the series.

The half-hour episode was the result of a months-long planning and production process that occurred last fall. It features the stories of ten WNMU students and alumni: Oscar Arteaga Romero, Stacey Bernstein, Megan Custer, Itzela Darkenwald, Natalee Drissell, Logan Eastman, Antonio Guerrero Ramos...

A: It’s been four years since the smash-hit sitcom Modern Family ended, but Bowen has been selective with her next series commitment. She’ll soon star in the 1980s-set supernatural-thriller series Hysteria! on Peacock, where she’ll play the mother of a teenager who is accused of being a satanist. A premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but the highly anticipated series recently added Garret Dillahunt (Raising Hope) and Nolan North (Pretty Little Liars) to the cast.

Promoting Gallup in film, art

As the City of Gallup works to increase its presence on the big screen, it is again partnering with the  National Indian Youth Council and several other organizations to host the second Gallup Film & Media Expo.

The Expo is slated for 10 am - 4 pm on March 20 at The University of New Mexico-Gallup’s Gurley Hall and Calvin Auditorium, 705 Gurley Ave. It is free to attend and booth spaces are  also free. This second event is planned to be much larger than the first and will include unique  offerings and opportunities for local residents to network and learn more about working in the  industry.
