Following Linda Bowlby’s death Jan. 26, her family is keeping her spirit alive with the reopening of Opo Gallery.

Opo will present “The Candy Kitchen Show” May 12 from 6-8 pm during Gallup ArtsCrawl, at their new location at Fitz’s, on 305 S. 2^nd Street.

The gallery’s new hours will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 am-3 pm, and Tuesday evenings during nightly Indian dances.

Trust me, I know. I have been at this nonstop since 2010, and it only gets more difficult to see animals suffer. It never gets easier. And it’s all human caused. Humans don’t see the “butterfly effect” of the choices they make on behalf of their animals.

WINDOW ROCK—President Russell Begaye and Vice President Jonathan Nez offered their condolences to the family of Navajo Code Talker Roy Hawthorne, who passed away April 21.

“Code Talker Hawthorne is highly respected,” Begaye said. “He was not only a hero and a warrior, but also as a true spokesman who worked on behalf of the welfare of the Navajo Code Talkers consistently. It is a privilege to have known him and I extend my condolences to his family, his fellow Navajo Code Talkers and his comrades.”
