Nov. 20, 4:36 pm

Aggravated DWI (1st offense)

Gallup Police Officer Timo Molina said he was dispatched to the east ramp of Interstate 40 in connection with a single vehicle crash.

When Molina arrived, he met Lizer Kionte, 23, no address given. Kionte at first said he was not the driver, but then admitted he was. He also admitted to drinking two 16 ounce cans of beer about two hours before getting behind the wheel.

Kionte agreed to do the standard field sobriety tests and failed. He was arrested for DWI. He refused to take a breath alcohol test and was transported to county jail.

Jade Dennison

Nov. 11, 11:11 pm

DWI (1st offense)

Gallup Police Officer Iris Martinez said she was dispatched to the parking lot of Wal-Mart in connection with an accident

When she got to the scene, she met the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident. The woman said she was sitting in her car waiting for her daughter when she was struck by another vehicle which then attempted to leave.

She said she ran after the other vehicle and watched as it reversed, almost hitting two other people before stopping.

Martinez then talked to the other driver , identified as Jade Dennison, 36, of Navajo, N.M. Dennison was talking on her cell phone trying to get her insurance information. Martinez also noticed she was holding onto the door of her vehicle for support.

Martinez asked Dennison why was trying to leave the scene of the accident and Dennison said she was talking to her daughter and became distracted. At first she said she had not been drinking. But then admitted she had one shot of “Hot Damn”; about four hours before she started driving.

When asked if she would do the standard field sobriety tests, she said she had medical problems, but then agreed to alternative tests involving her mental skills. She failed the tests and was arrested for DWI.

She later agreed to take a breath alcohol test and posted two samples of .22.

Ramsey Lee

Oct. 11, 11:34 pm

Aggravated DWI (2nd offense)

Gallup Police Officer Domenic Molina said he was on routine patrol in the area of South First Street when he noticed a car with no headlights on.

As he followed the car, the driver put his headlights on. But then Molina noticed that one of his taillights was broken. He said he also saw the vehicle cross the center line. He made a traffic stop and as he walked up to the car, he noticed an open can of beer in a child restraint seat.

There was no child in the seat. There was also an open 30 pack of beer in the middle floor board of the back seat.

Molina asked the driver for his driver’s license and after a delay he was given a license identifying the driver as Ramsey Lee, 39, of Gallup. There was a woman passenger in the vehicle, as well. Molina said he could smell liquor coming from the vehicle when the window was rolled down.

Lee admitted, that he had had two big beers at home before driving. When Lee demonstrated the size, Molina determined the beers were about 12 ounces.  He asked about the beers in the car and Lee said they were old. When asked to take the standard field sobriety tests, Lee refused, and was arrested for DWI.

He did agree to take a breath alcohol test and posted two samples of .28.

Burt Etsitty

Sept. 14, 5:30 pm

DWI (5th offense)

Gallup Police Officer Timo Molina said he was dispatched to South Second Street in connection with a possible drunk driver.

When he got to the area, he saw a blue GMC matching the description given, coming out of the Trademart parking lot and stopped it for a welfare check. The driver opened the driver door and then closed it.  He then began talking to the driver, Burt Etsitty, 41, of Gallup and as they talked,  Molina said he could smell alcohol from his breath. He also noticed he had bloodshot eyes. Molina asked Etsitty to step out of the vehicle.

Etsitty agreed to take the standard field sobriety tests and failed, at which time he was arrested for DWI. When Molina checked Etsitty’s background, he discovered he had four prior DWI convictions.

So instead of having him do a breath alcohol test, he secured a search warrant and had a blood sample taken, so the rest of the results would be more accurate.

Etsitty was booked at the county jail without incident.

Jerimiah Tsosie

Sept. 13, 6:45 pm

Aggravated DWI (1st offense)

Gallup Police Officer Justin Foster said he was working a DWI checkpoint when Jerimiah Tsosie, 22, of Breadsprings, drove up in a pickup loaded with people. Two people were in the bed of the white pickup and two were sitting up front with Tsosie.

Foster said he noticed that Tsosie’s eyes were bloodshot and asked him if he was willing to take the standard field sobriety tests. He said yes and managed to get through the tests without showing any clues of being intoxicated.

He then agreed to take a portable breath test and posted a sample of .097 and was arrested for DWI. He later said he did not wish to take a breath test. Tsosie was transported to the county jail, where he was booked on DWI and driver’s license required.
